Another home owner from North York reached out to ALBO team regarding new home construction. This project was ambitious, with ideas of additional office space above double car garage and super high ceilings in main / kitchen area. This was supposed to give a lot of natural light for entire main floor that was designed lightly with modern touches. Basement was created as separate unit with its own entrance and dedicated kitchen. Home owners wanted to have an option for family members living there or being able to rent it out.

This project started just before covid hit. Immediately prices skyrocketed and suppliers started to shut down. It was extremely hard to get trades and materials without delays, but kept working every day to make sure construction of the house doesn’t fall behind in schedule too far. Another issue in this new home construction was dealing with depth of foundation wall and neighbour proximity. Although building city department didn’t mention anything, inspection made us provide shoring for excavation to protect adjacent home foundation from being damaged.

Despite all the difficulties with covid delays and price increase, our team was able to finish this amazing custom built home within a year. Our clients are super happy and thankful to project managers and designers. Half a year later we asked them to visit and take video with photoshoot for our portfolio and there was absolutely no resistance due to great relationship.
