It depends on size and complexity, and sometimes it may be as long as building a new house. Most complicated projects involve underpinning, adding walkouts, completely changing the framing with walls and even floor joists. Typical full house renovation can range from 5 to 10 month.
It depends on type of renovation and scope of work involved. Small projects that are not structural and that do not involve replacing/extending HVAC or moving plumbing, do not require permits, but require electrical inspection if there is any electrical work (We call them cosmetic). If plumbing lines are moved or added, structural changes are made, added extra space or HVAC is modified, the city will require obtaining a permit.

We have in-house crew to complete most of the work for interior renovations, however there are elements of the house that always require third party with specific knowledge and experience.
