Full Home Renovation

Our team was called to consult on a project in High Park Area. This detached 3 storey house in growing and highly valued neighbourhood had so much potential. We did our best to come up with multiple ideas that would match client’s budget, be suitable for area and have interior style home owners prefer. Like many older homes in this area of Toronto, it needed a full gut to replace electrical wiring, provide new ducting system and plumbing lines. Obviously, there were no insulation behind old plaster and it needed to be installed. Overall idea for the house was to open back wall with large beam to provide maximum natural light and to open up main floor. Clients wanted a mix of modern and traditional finishes.

Just like most large of the projects in central areas of Toronto, we were battling with space for waste bins and deliveries. Parking next to the house was not possible and sometimes ALBO team had to order live loads. As soon as old walls were open, we discovered asbestos (which is not unusual for such home renovations). We requested licensed contractor for remediation and continued working. Most of the floor joists were in rough shape and needed replacement with reinforcement at structural walls. Another obstacle our guys had to deal with was installing extremely large and heavy steel beam at the back of the house wall that was fully taken out for glass panels and sliding doors.

The speed on this project was unimaginable. Thanks to all our workers and how owners who were able to provide all necessary information during construction. This house is brought back to life with luxurious and at the same time Victorian finishes. It now has extra usable space on third floor and fully functional basement. There is nothing more inspiring than seeing clients happily move into fully redesigned and renovated home. We are glad to be working in this neighbourhood and contributing to overall market in Toronto.
